Sapphire is one of Ad Hoc's finest dance/variety bands. Check out Sapphire's Sample Song List: the band has over 900 songs and will add your favorites to that list! Want some salsa? Norah Jones? Polka? Nat King Cole? How about a Phish or String Cheese song?

Sapphire welcomes your  requests - whatever they may be! They really will play whatever you want, just for you!

Sapphire features male and female vocalists, keyboards and an incredible sax/flute/clarinet player, all backed by a talented rhythm section comprised of drums, guitar, and bass. You can expand the sound with additional horns, percussion and singers to ensure an even more robust sound for a large event or venue. And, we invite you to request your favorite tunes when you book this band... they can play the music you love, just for you!

This dynamic, versatile 6-piece group can play everything from rock and blues to motown and golden oldies to swing, salsa and country, Sapphire offers something for everyone. From ages 8 to 80, you'll have all your guests on the dance floor!

If you need musicians for your wedding ceremony, this group can provide a perfect smaller ensemble such as a flute/guitar duo.

1) We will play any and every request you have…given sufficient advance notice, we will play them all. That’s right, all of them! In addition to disco, classical, jazz, Motown, rock, country, 80s, oldies and swing... you name it, we can play it!

2) We play the widest variety of music… lovely, quiet dinner music at the appropriate volume for dinner; dance music of every sort, often played as medleys to keep everybody dancing!

3) The band can split in half and play 2 places at once... let’s say that for cocktails the bar is in the ballroom but guests are also able to walk out on the lawn. We might put a singer and sax player inside; the other singer, guitarist, bass player and drummer outside... for nice, ambient music in both places.

4) We schedule breaks when appropriate... we schedule breaks so that the band is only breaking when it’s appropriate and we'll play CDs for you during breaks.

5) We don’t have long breaks in between songs... it’s not as crucial during dinner, but during the dance portion of the evening, you don’t want big breaks in the music as the band figures out what to play next. We string songs together into medleys so we don’t kill the dance groove - we’ll play 7 songs in a medley that lasts a half hour, then stop for 10 seconds to get ready for the next one.

6) We can play your ceremony... with musicians from the band. Choose from solo classical guitar, guitar and vocals or guitar and flute.

7) We can Emcee your reception... we know how to Emcee a reception with dignity and class, yet keep people involved and having fun at the same time.

8) We know weddings... we play a lot of weddings so we know what can go wrong and we make sure it doesn’t.

9) We can customize our sound for you with other instruments... add a violin for country music, a 3-piece horn section for swing, a conga player for salsa. We have lots of tried and true musicians who play with us and are ready to go!

10) Let us provide varied musical entertainment for your entire wedding... for a very reasonable price, you can have a classical ensemble for the ceremony, the band split into two combos inside and outside for cocktails, nice quiet dinner music and a rockin’ dance party with the whole band until the wee hours.
